What lifespan estimates mean (and what they don’t)

Updated October 29, 2026 · About 4 minutes · By AstroSeek

The studio suggests a pass year so the light can keep moving. You can change every number. Nothing here is a medical prediction.

Why an estimate exists

A timeline video needs an ending for people who are still here. Without a pass year, the trail would never finish. The estimate is a rough average used only so the animation can complete — and so the final card can show a span like 1990 – 2073.

What you can edit

What estimates are not

If a number feels wrong, change it. The story belongs to you.

“Only until now”

Prefer a video that stops at the real present? Choose Only until now. That mode avoids projecting future estimated years into the playback.
